I am a planner

Ahhh, holidays! Who doesn't love time off work just to relax and rejuvinate?!

I am a planner. I've planned out my holidays to a T! Yes, I'm sad - but without organisation (and usually with it) I'm a completely mess.

My list for my Christmas break includes writing a meal plan, working out recipes for said meal plan, excercise regime, and laminating info to put on the fridge to be used later (which will probably be never, but I can dream, can't I?!)

Also on my list was a cull of toys/items around the house that was no longer used, broken, or old and pack unnecessary items (we're moving house hopefully in June 2011) and ORGANISE the house. I had also planned on learning to sew simple outfits for my kids and do lots of baking/crafty things with them!

So far, I've baked. And ate. And baked it again cos I ate it the first time around. Sigh. So today, I've spent some time online looking for images, ideas and helpful hints on how to get me motivated, and organised and I thought I would share with my lovely followers! So here is a few blogs I found with awesome tips to help organise your life!

The Workspace You Want! - Helpful hints for the home office.
Super Organiser Mum - Jade's ability to organise her house is just, wow.
The Organised Housewife - My New Years BIBLE!

And some inspirational images to get our creative organised juices flowing!

Have you got an organisation tips you'd like to share? Would you like to show your organised office space? Email them to admin@prettythingsdistractme.com.au and we'll put them up on the blog!

Now, I'd better finish finding myself some storage solutions - hmm, maybe I should set myself a challenge - under a certain $ amount - what do you think it should be?

Tomorrow I am thankful!

I'm writing this today because I will be super busy tomorrow, because my little baby is turning 1!

Tomorrow is filled with mixed emotions for me - the birth of my beautiful little girl, Lola Jaklyn Rose, but it's also the day that I had worried about for weeks and my fears came true.

One year ago tomorrow, I almost died during surgery to have Lola. We'd had complications from the first start of her pregnancy, and was told there was a decent chance I'd have a hysterectomy during the operation. I was scared, yep. For sure! But 18 years earlier, on that day, my lovely grandpa had passed away so I knew he'd be looking out for me.

During my c-section, I lost ALOT of blood (4 litres to be exact) and survived only because of the wonderful people who donate blood! Without those wonderful people, I would not be here, alive today.

I wanted to find a way to thank each and every one of you who helped save my life (whether it was your blood or not that I recieved, the fact that you donated is AWESOME and something I'll never, ever forget!) but I don't know how. So I just wanted to write this to say a huge THANK YOU!!! One of you gorgeous people, reading this now, quite possibly could have saved my life. One of you kept me alive to watch my children grow, to cuddle them when they cry, to laugh when they laugh. You really have no idea how 15 minutes of your time, has changed my life. As i type this now, I'm crying. LOL I'm a bit of a sooky bum this year. It's a time of mixed emotions. I'm so thankful to be alive, to see my baby girl turn 1, but I'm also sad because I miss those few precious hours with her, the first cry, the first cuddle (I do not remember it!)

If you're reading this now, and you don't donate, or are wondering if you're eligible to donate, check this link out: http://www.donateblood.com.au/page.aspx?IDDataTreeMenu=39 I urge you to do the quiz, and if you're eligible to donate, please do so. You might not think you'll need it - heck I never thought I'd need it - but one day, you just might need this life saving service, and supplies are low. We need to build our blood banks up so that each and every one of us can use it, if we ever need it!

And if you're reading this now, and you do donate.....

We have a winner...

There's been so much going on lately, that I totally forgot to draw the winner of thr Pretty Pennies from our recent Mystery eParty!!

The total amount that one winner gets to spend in store is $167.60 - which means, the winner of the $20 Gift Voucher, for guessing the closest amount is:

Candice said...

$132.95
$193.50
$167.80**

Candice was only $0.20 off!!! Congrats Candice you've won the $20 voucher!!!

Now, onto the winner of the pretty pennies... drum roll please!!!!!

So this time, we've used Random.org to pick the winner. We've counted the number of orders and gone in order of who purchased first, so our SECOND order from the Mystery eParty is...

JASMIN GEARHART!!!

Congrats Jasmine!! I'll be in contact with you soon on how to use your Pretty Pennies.

Thanks to everyone who purchased and entered - the orders were HUGE and it took longer than expected to get everything done. We're going to be doing one more Mystery E Party this year, in October, just in time for Christmas. I'm unsure if we'll do any more after that, as it's unfair to the many stockists that we now have.

Thanks again for participating, hope you all enjoyed it!

It's Mystery E-Party Time!!!

Hey folks

As I announced the other day, we're holding another Mystery E-Party, starting May 4th. The last one was a massive success, with the mystery hostess winning over $160 worth of credit for our online store.

We also ran a little comp around the time of the mystery e-party, to see who could guess the amount of Pretty Pennies the hostess would win in the end and that person won a $20 Gift Voucher.

So I think we should play this game again - please comment below how much you think the Pretty Pennies will be at the end of the Mystery E-Party and the closest amount wins a $20 Gift voucher!!!

So a few little rules...

You can guess three times
Last time was only dollar amounts, this time I want $ and cents! :D
Even if you don't participate in the Mystery E party, you can still enter!

I'll be setting up a Facebook event today for you to join - where you'll find the invitation, and information - and you can ask questions.

I look forward to doing this e-party again - I LOVED the response we had last time and hope to make this a bigger and better one this time around!

So whose ready for a different kind of competition?

Alrighty, ladies and gents.

We have a new competition in mind :D As I've spoken about on our fan page, we're going to charge and entry fee of $5 - payments can be made at payments@prettythingsdistractme.com.au via Paypal. If you need to pay via direct deposit, please email me at the above email address.

So what's the comp? Well - it's going to be fun. I've found someone who can custom print my own ribbon! YAY! So the idea we came up with is we want you to design a ribbon for us - but there is a catch. We're going to pick TWO ribbon designs that we love and have them printed.

It has to be a mixture of my obvious style, mixed with your own. The ribbon is WHITE only, but any colours can be used. We are printing 10mm and 22mm ribbon and the prize is a wee bit undecided yet, but does include an entire range of items, made from the ribbon you design, if you win!!!!

The range will include, Tuxedo clip sets, itty bitty clip sets, headbands - both woven, wrapped and a headband with a bow, co-ordinating hair ties and anything else you can think of! This part of the prize is valued at $30.50 - Total Prize back will be $100 for first prize (We're thinking a Gift Voucher for the remainding - or we're open to suggestions :))

Second prize is for the second ribbon design we love will win the entire range of ribbon in their design.

So once you've designed your ribbon, email me the jpeg (no larger than 2mg please) to admin@prettythingsdistractme.com.au - entries close 21st February so you'd better get your thinking caps on!! Spread the word!

Being a WAHM means...

I'm writing this to you from our back yard. Under our gazebo, sitting next to the kids in the pool - ahh the life.

While sitting here watching my children play on this warm day, made me think how lucky I am to be able to work from home - hence this post.

Being a WAHM means:

*I can still be involved in my childrens day to day activities and work at the same time.
*I can spend time with my husband, and have adult conversations.
*When my babies are sick, I can take a time out to make sure they're feeling ok.
*I can drag my laptop out side where I am now, and enjoy the breeze, the giggles and the fun with my family instead of being jammed in a tiny cubicle.
*My dog gets the attention she deserves instead of being pushed to the side because I'm never home
*Means I can do what I want, make whatever I want, and be who I want.

I love my job, I love my life. I love being a WAHM, do you?
